Wookhee Min

Research Scientist

wmin@ncsu.edu

I am a Research Scientist in Department of Computer Science at North Carolina State University. I received a B.S. in Computer Science from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, and worked for Samsung Electronics in South Korea for four and half years as a software engineer. I received a M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science under the direction of Dr. James Lester at North Carolina State University.

My research interests lie in Artificial Intelligence, especially addressing computational challenges in user modeling, such as student knowledge and intent modeling in game-based learning environments, through which I aim to create highly adaptive interactive software. In parallel, I have examined a suite of multimodal data streams (e.g., facial expressions, bodily expressions, physiological signals) via machine learning techniques including deep neural networks and probabilistic graphical models. Additionally, I’m interested in natural language processing, particularly analyzing students’ natural language interactions for tasks such as dialogue breakdown detection, normalizing noisy text, and short answer assessment.
