Movement has always fascinated me. Since I was very young, I knew that animation was something I really wanted to pursue. Cartoons were a heavy influence in my childhood and I loved the various stories you could tell through the medium. The idea of drawings springing to life was exciting and I became immersed in this world of storytelling.
At NC State University in December 2014, I completed my B.A. in Art and Design, where I concentrated on animation and new media. I focused heavily on 3D and 2D animation. In both of these worlds, I explored character animation, character modeling/texturing, and also composition and imagery. I developed a sense of creating 3D and 2D environments and movement within the space. I also like to dabble at combining the two techniques together and seeing how it changes visuals and affects story. Story is an essential part to my workflow, as everything I create has something to tell.
Since graduating, I am now pursuing my Master’s degree within the same program. I am focusing heavily on the connection between story and animation and how that may influence viewers. Here, I am working on refining my skills learned in undergraduate school and redirecting them for a more specific and stronger goal.
I have been working at IntelliMedia since January 2013, when I was still a junior in undergraduate school, under the guidance and direction of Dr. James Lester. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work within the group, and to collaborate and share ideas.
